Casa Golan Ruíz from Teotitlán del Valle, Oaxaca, uses 100% wool & natural plant dyes to carry on a tradition which stretches back to the early days of the Spanish colonization of Mexico.

Teotitlán del Valle in Oaxaca is world-famous for their wool rugs. Known for their use of the treadle loom and incorporating natural dyes, these pillows, runners, bags, coasters and rugs will really tie the room together.

The Golan Ruiz family sells all of these and more in the Ajijic plaza and at their house just around the corner at Marcos Castellanos #18. Originally from Teotitlán, they’ve been selling their wool products in Ajijic since the early 2010s.

Ask husband-and-wife duo Estela and Joaquín to make something custom just for you and they’ll weave you anything you’d like.

Check out this article from A City A Month to see how the wools are spun, dyed and woven.
