Meticulously crafted custom frames at steal-worthy prices.

If you’re a starving artist, you now have another reason to move to the “artists’ colony” of Ajijic: Salvador Ortiz’s frame shop. Salvador’s attention to detail far exceeds the price he charges, which is considerably less than you’d pay for custom framing north of the border.

Salvador has hundreds of frame styles to choose from and he’ll lend you his 14 years of experience to choose the right frame, mat, and size to complement the image. But if you can’t decide, nothing beats the simplicity of a black, white or natural wood frame that can adapt to whatever space it’s put in.

You’ll also be able to communicate with him in English if you don’t speak Spanish.

Salvador and his crew use acid-free, archival materials to keep your artwork safe for generations.

Sample price for a framed print: Total size including frame and mat — 34.5 in x 23 inches. (3.5-inch mat, double matted, 2-inch frame) — $720 pesos
